It's a the third day in a row I have a photo from downtown Lubbock.
This one, as you can see, is from what we shall call the "less urbanized" side - 9th Street nex to the railroad.

An interesting, and colorful, row of downtown storefronts.Lubbock, Texas
This large pile of discarded metal things looms over the freeway access road. The pile never seems to change volume, though there seems to be some change in the specific items at the top.
(I have been accused of being too negative about the state of downtown Lubbock, so in deference to this criticism, I will refrain from noting that this pile-o-crap also looms over the central business district. So there.)

It seems like nearly all of downtown Lubbock is deserted. This place - a former gas station, from the looks of things - had a vacant lot on one side, and three vacant houses on the other. And it looked empty, too. I can't quite understand how we can think of ourselves as a Big City on the one hand, yet have vacant lots scattered all through downtown.
There are redevelopment plans a-foot - but aren't there always big redevelopment plans a-foot?
